Clinic Receptionist:

II. Requirements:
Qualifications
•        Must have a high school diploma or GED.
•        Preferred to have training College/business/technical experience
•        Prefer to have some experience in the healthcare setting.
•        Ability to communicate effectively in English Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•        Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
•        Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations.
•        Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude.
•        Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.
•        Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information.
•        Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
•        Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
•        Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner. This can include anger, fear, hostility& violence of others.
•        Ability to be able to do computer work.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
•        Working regular clinic hours including some Saturdays.
•        Exposure to blood and body fluids, blood borne pathogens, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation (x-ray/electromagnetic energy), potential electric shock.
•        Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.
•        Mostly inside work w/ good ventilation and comfortable temperature.
•        Requires some standing and walking and approximately 80% sitting.
•        Manage stress appropriately.
•        Handle multiple priorities.
•        Make decisions under pressure.
 
III. Duties:
 
Job Summary
Under direction of the Clinic Manger (RN), CNO, and/or CEO, manage schedules for all patients in the clinic. Answering and directing phone calls into the clinic. Demonstrate ability to utilize the appropriate resources, assist where needed and the use appropriate supplies. Following all policy & procedures of FRMC.
 
Essential Functions
•        Promote the mission, vision, and values of FRMC.
•        Adherence to policies and procedures of Hospital.
•        Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Clinic & FRMC.
•        Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
•        Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to IC guidelines for cleaning.
•        Uses and maintains equipment properly.
•        Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
•        Always introduces self to patients, families, and visitors.
•        Documents accurately information in EPIC/EMR.
•        Regular attendance at clinic meetings & facility required meetings.
•        Available for duty in case of disaster.
•        Take verbal orders and telephone and put into EPIC/EMR.
•        Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
•        Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
•        Replenishes supplies.
•        Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions, and isolation precautions.
•        Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.
•        Works hours assigned including Saturday mornings.
•        Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.
•        Observes safety precautions at all times.
•        Maintains age specific safety precautions.
•        Reads and knows where to find all policy & procedures
•        Do SQSS daily (beginning and end of shift) and training for SQSS as required.
•        Attends all EPIC/EMR training as required.
•        The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
•        Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, training’s, current literature, in service meetings and workshops; shows responsibility for own professional practice and ongoing education.
•        Cooperate with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintain good employee relations and interdepartmental objectives.
•        Handle incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls for the clinic offices and providers.
•        Performs various clerical, accounting, and other related duties to ensure office runs efficiently for providers, nurses, and patients.
•        Schedule appointments
•        Open and distribute mail and faxes
•        Collect, post, and balance cash drawers
•        Process end of day reports
•        Process and update all patient information for clinic EMR and electronic filing
•        Refer patients that request medical records to HIM department
•        Communicate effectively and accurately with patients, providers, and others
 
AGE OF PATIENTS SERVED:
            All ages are served at Fairview Municipal Hospital including:
Neonate/Infant –      Birth – 1 year
Child/Pediatric –        1 – 11 years
Adolescent –              12 – 17 years
Adult –                         18 – 64 years
Geriatric –                  65 years +
 
Non-Essential Functions
